The Woman at the Well series was created in response to the Others Imagining Initiative show at Biola University in 2018. The work reflects a modern interpretation of the biblical passage on Jesus meeting with the woman mid-day at the well. These images reflect a modern “well,” a place of exposure, vulnerability, washing away sins, and a desire to be clean again. It holds both the beginning and end of the scriptural narrative in the woman’s processing through the wash cycle from removing her laundry from her personal space, transporting it to the washer for cleansing, and retrieving herself, her belongings, at the dry.
